In the New Testament, Paul famously said that sin made a home in him and acted through him, causing him to do that which he did not want to do. What is that false identity he referred to?
We discussed this during our most recent Sunday Service.
Most people believe their thoughts, even if they've listened to them for a lifetime and have been led astray every time! Why is that?
There is indeed an identity inside of us that is not us. Paul called it "sin". I refer to it as "ego". It's an identity that we've come to believe IS us. It feels like us, and its voice sounds like us. It speaks to us through thoughts. Yet, it is NOT us.
When we listen to our thoughts, we are caught up in the world of doubt. We are blinded to reality. We make mistakes. We feel fear. Life is hard.
Yet Jesus said, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can move mountains."
Do you believe that?
How do we access this faith and overcome doubt? By "doubting" our thoughts.
The one thing that all human beings have in common is these thoughts and the negative effect they have on our lives. And yet these predictable bad outcomes are not enough to prevent us from continuing to listen to thoughts.
Thoughts are of the Devil. I know that we don't like to talk of such things in our modern world, but it's the truth.
Satan wants you to question God, "I'm doing all I can do, and it still doesn't work!" Yet all you're doing is listening to Satan's voice, which you believe is your own. But if this voice was really yours, wouldn't you always have good thoughts, and good outcomes? Surely you want good things for yourself and your children.
Through our ego's desire to attempt to control things, we fall prey to listening to these thoughts. But this control our ego seeks, is actually to play God.
In reality, you do not have control--over yourself, or anyone elsel. The sooner you realize that, the happier you will become. It's an egotistical person who thinks they can control something.
Through our lack of consciousness, we fall away from the world of true reality, into a world of despair through thoughts. Hatred and fear reside in that world. But when we see we are in that world of thought and come back to reality, then we no longer reside in a world of hate and fear. Paradise is at hand.
Regular, sincere, quiet prayer helps separate us from the world of thoughts, and allows us to access true reality.
This is the world of faith. Paul and others have overcome the world doubt and found the world of faith. I believe it is possible for us to find this world too, and to live a life of no doubt. Do you?
